About the Position

An opportunity has become available at a top tier law firm to join their Corporate and Commercial Department

The ideal candidate will be an admitted attorney with at least 2 years post articles experience in corporate commercial law.

Key Functions
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to;

  • mergers and acquisitions;
  • structuring and re-structuring of business entities;
  • corporate affairs;
  • corporate governance;
  • general corporate and commercial work, including legal due diligence;
  • insurance- law related workstreams, including regulatory reviews;
  • familiar with all phases and elements of transactional work in relation to mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity;
  • familiar with the drafting/reviewing of commercial contracts, including without limitation M&A and banking and finance related transaction agreements
  • familiar with providing legal and regulatory advice;
  • familiar with phases and workstreams for public-private partnerships;
  • familiar with empowerment legislation and applicable codes thereto;
  • reviewing legislation, furnishing legal opinions and advice on a wide range of legal issues;
  • manage work streams on transactions;
  • delegate and work with junior professionals.

  • Good interpersonal and communications skills
  • Ability to administer and execute instructions, from receipt to conclusion, with minimal professional supervision.
  • Strong organisational skills, meticulous and high attention to detail
  • Ability to work towards deadlines in a highly pressurized environment
  • Ability to take initiative and assume responsibility for monitoring expeditious progress of transactions
